Behind the scene, mostly out of view, has flickered an on-again, off-again relationship with art. The work on these pages, done exclusively on paper, is largely instinctive, or intuitive, rather than literal or representational. In the landscapes, my focus remains on the scene before me rather than on what the various media are doing on the paper.
In the early 1990's my paintings and drawings were included in a group exhibit in a small gallery in southern California. Subsequently, the inspiration faded, and I did almost no artwork at all for 25 years. Now, some glimmers have returned, and I am once again picking up my materials.

Born and raised in Washington, DC, in an education-centric home, I am the youngest of three brothers. After high school, I went on to Yale, graduating with a B.A. in English. Later, I completed an M.A. in English at the University of California, Irvine.
In recent years (up to 2025), I have been living in two places, Israel and the U.S. For me, this has been quite a fruitful arrangement, which has included my study of Modern Hebrew, an ongoing labor of love.

Meanwhile, my artwork floats around in my head, often in the recesses, occasionally at the fore....
